Our booked tour with Faenza Tours (Juan Dolio Rent a car) started today to the island of Catalina, which belongs to the province of La Altagracia.
Our driver Adrian took us to the La Romana port and told us informative about the Dominican Republic.
La Romana Port
The weather was okay, cloudy but no rain and very warm. It got better as we drove. The sun came out.
There were much tourists on board and the crew invited to rum and dancing with Bachata Music.
It was too early in the morning for us but a few people danced along and it was a lot of fun to watch.
We stopped at a snorkeling spot on the way...
Bar Jack´s / Striped Jack´s
People like to make sushi out of the Jack fish...
Arrived in paradise, it started to rain and this made snorkeling and other things worthless for the time being.
Catalina Island
When it stopped raining, there was something to eat for everyone in the form of a buffet. The food was very tasty and the weather got a little better but still too restless for snorkeling.
I only went into the jungle in my swimming trunks to take some photos of the flora and fauna. In the frenzy of searching and concentration, I didn't notice that my arms and back were occupied by black mosquitoes. I couldn't get rid of them all so I ran towards the beach, threw down the camera bag and jumped into the water.
The tourists in the water thought something was following me and looked very confused.
There were many stitches on my back and arms that swelled up in a short time...I was asked about it a lot that day and ended up putting on a shirt.
But why go far when the animals will come by themselves?
Crab / Greater Antillean grackle
This bird is also called Kling-Kling in the Dominican Republic.
Anywhere but here I would have suspected a...
Raccoon
Raccoons are omnivores and a threat to other animals. I have never seen one in the wild before.
We had our fun and went back after a few hours with the party boat because it started to rain.
Flavored cigarillos simply taste good here, even as non-smoker.
Hotelbeach
4th Day: Still raining but relaxed
Morning!
We didn't book a tour for today because of the weather and stayed in the hotel most of the time. From time to time the sun came out and we took advantage of that directly.
At noon we walked a bit through Juan Dolio and we noticed that there was a lot of garbage in the small green areas. We even had to watch how tourists from the upper hotels throw out empty bottles while driving. It's a pity if you want to find paradise but other tourists pollute it, but they also want paradise themselves. Pretty stupid.
We bought a few things at the supermarket and relaxed back at the hotel.
A little puff, drink Coronita and macro photography. This is life.
The next few days will be with tours.
