3rd Day: Juzcar, Tarifa & Valdevaqueros

Updated: Feb 5

Good morning from the Smurf Village of Juzcar.

The village is like a film set, because the animated film -The Smurfs- was filmed here. Whole 9000l of blue paint were used.

But first we have breakfast and then comes the tour of the hotel and the village.

Hotel Bandolero

It was a lovely calm and nutritious breakfast with juice, toast and jam made in the hotel's own manufactory. You can also buy the jam as a souvenir...which we did.

So, Roomtour...

The hotel complex. There is a nice pool upstairs.

So, let´s walk around!

The houses are all richly decorated with small Smurf figures. Everything made very lovingly.

There is also a big Brainy Smurf (Pitufo Filósofo) here, but he's missing his glasses...so yes, to the left of the hotel is a beautiful...

Smurf Playground

There is also a path that leads down to Parque De Juzcar. We also found the scorpions here yesterday at night.

We continue walking through the streets. Everything is still closed, you don't see anyone. Except for a small souvenir shop.

And this is where we ate yesterday, at the Parriba Pabacho bar - (El Casaron). Here is also the huge Papa Smurf.

Let´s walk back around...

There is also a small cemetery.

Lantana

This tower is for ziplining. Next time we will also slide over the gorge.

Yes, that was Juzcar. We had a nice relaxing and quiet time here. The Hotel and the Service was great!

Bye bye Juzcar and the Smurfs.

Continue to Tarifa Beach.

On the road...

Viewpoint to Parauta

And on the way I found a national park via maps and I wanted to look at it and turn a few stones.

Parque Natural Sierra de las Nieves

And we found...

Wolfspider | Millipede | Dung Beetle

We also found centipedes here but they were too fast.

Next Viewpoint. Here you can see nature and the Arroyo del Muerto (Dead Man's Stream) below, as well as the emergency helipad above.

But now finally swimming again. Welcome to...

Tarifa Beach

Directly on the beach are good and free parking spaces. Nevertheless, some keep trying and want money and we were threatened with damage to the vehicle. It was a poor man trying his luck...

It was very windy here on the beach and perfect for kite surfing, but it was also very clean here.

After a few hours we left the beach and headed to our accommodation in Valdevaqueros.

Hotel Copacabana Tarifa Beach

We paid 42,75€ for one night. And here is a beach as well.

Valdevaqueros Beach

Perfect for sunset.

It was also very windy here and many kitesurfers. There are a few backpackers here and it looks very relaxed...almost hippie.

But this beach was very special because it had beautiful and big sand dunes like the Sahara and if you stayed there long enough and ignored the sea, you thought you were there. Enjoy!

The wind swept across the dunes and a fine mist of sand was clearly visible on the surface. Almost magical.

The photo session was really fun.

Awesome!

We would have loved to have stayed longer in this magical Dunes, but our stomachs were growling and it was getting darker. We looked for a restaurant.

And we found...

Pizzeria La Tribu Playa

We had Zuchini Pollo del horno, Bocadillo Atun (10,20€) and Spaghetti Bolognesa (7,20€) with 2 Dos Mares Craftbeer. Delicious and cheap!

It was a really exciting day with many surprises...sometimes you get too much information in advance, but it's nicer to discover things.
