Today we had to leave a little earlier. Departure was at 5:45 by bus to the 27 Waterfalls in the province Puerto Plata and after it to Paradise Island in the province Punta Rucia.
We were the only Germans on the bus and our fellow passengers were without exception from Russia. That's why the guide's conversation during the trip was in Russian. Unfortunately, they didn't take us into account, but we got on with English. The guide was cool and also our fellow passengers.
The drive to the Waterfalls was about 4 hours. A very nice ride.
We didn't have much time to take photos during the trip so I had to take some out of the bus. We would have liked to have gone to all the places. Wonderful nature.
Busdrive
So let's start! We got our gear and then have to walk a path through the jungle over wooden bridges and rivers. About 45 minutes. A great hike.
During the hike we were told that only 7 waterfalls are available due to the weather. We were still excited.
We had lots of fun. The beginning you had to climb. You had to slide down, sometimes jump from a height of almost 10m. It was great! We have more in the videos and highly recommend it. Jungle...pure nature.
Next stop to Paradise Island Beach Resort. The drive there was 2 hours.
The weather was very variable and partly cloudy. Lunch was served before heading to Paradise Island.

The environment...
Let's go snorkeling...
The weather was still changing but the sun was shining on arrival.
Paradise Island
The water was a bit choppy at times, but you could still snorkel well. The coral reef was breathtaking. More about this in a video.
After a few hours the weather got worse and the guides got the boats ready. It got darker...
The rain has slowly started...
The drive back to the resort took about 30 minutes but to our surprise...
...we had a great ride through the mangroves not far from Paradise Island...the rain wasn't that heavy yet and it was the best speedboat tour through the mangroves we have ever had.
But while driving there the rain got worse and harder as well as colder.
I had to give my cap to the driver because he had barely seen anything and had to shield his vision with his hand. He was a very good driver and always keeps calm.
Here are some video-snapshots...
Mangroves
With a lot of speed through the corners, in the rain...really fun. Between the mangroves it was still possible but...on the open sea it was far more intense because the wind was added and the rain was painful, it really hurt because the driver had to go ashore quickly.
We all had to duck except the driver...he stands strong.
We were thankful to have arrived safely and also because the mangrove tour was started after all.
An unforgettable day and a guide we will never forget.
