5th Day: Tires, Patong...a mixed day

Updated: Feb 5

Today we had a lot planned, some things were supposed to happen spontaneously and some things weren't planned. It was definitely very exciting and a real first experience.

We wanted to leave early for Nai Yang Beach and the Sirinat National Park that is adjacent to it.

With the scooter, the journey should take 1.5 hours. We started driving and in front of Karon Beach we noticed that we had a flat tire. Fortunately, there was a repair shop nearby.

Keng Service-Scooter mechanic

The mechanics threw themselves on the scooter without my having to say much and repaired the tire within 15-20 minutes. The repair cost 10€...if i remember correctly.

The journey went on, the sun was beating down on us and we didn't have long clothes with us. We had to go through that now.

Nai Yang Beach

The National Park was a thick and dark jungle, but it was still quite easy to walk. I actually didn't find any flora or fauna except for a...

Praying Mantis

We were both sunburned. Amanda put some lotion on and we drove on to the Sarasin Bridge.

This bridge leads to the Thai mainland. We considered whether we should drive over it and then did it. That was a good feeling!

We drove back...it was much quieter up here, only a few people and traffic, you felt almost lonely. We got lost and drove a different route. By chance we saw a huge outlet and we visited it.

A really nice outlet in the middle of nowhere. A bit expensive but nice. We didn't buy anything, just looked at what was out there.

To the right of the outlet is the...

Chang Phang Lang

Back at the Inter House, our little homestay, we freshened up and rested. We wanted to go to Patong and have something to eat. Amanda knew from videos what it was like there, but I wanted to be surprised. It was now evening and the young employee knocked on my door. He said he found a snake - I told him to let me know if he finds any animals on the premises. So I went with him.

Golden Tree Snake

I was happy to finally be able to take a photo of a snake again, but unfortunately he had somehow finished off the beautiful animal. Fortunately it was a harmless, not very venomous species, but a beautiful ornamental tree snake. These snakes can slide from tree to tree and are also called flying snakes. Very interesting species and it was her last flight...

Patong, Malin Plaza

This woman was really good at cooking. Very quick and tasty...and i love green Curry.

Meat for later...

We drove down the street to the beach and had to stop at the bus station. The tire was flat again. OMG! And it was very late. The repair-shops were already closed. I checked the tire and noticed that the outer tire coat had cracks and that always caused the flat to come off. I was a little pissed off and outsiders saw that too.

Young locals offered us to take the scooter with and drive to a workshop for money. I refused that with thanks and called our homestay. A little annoyed, i spoke to the young employee and he referred me to the scooter rental company. He said that we can share the costs and i just have to speak to someone there for a repair-shop.

We took the scooter and took a few steps where it was quieter. I looked at the tire again. A local stopped next to us and saw the problem, offered his help and after a little negotiation he took the scooter and gave us his as a deposit. Very cool!

During that time we sat on the street and watched the party people driving by. Really busy here...a bit of everything. Also a lot of call girls.

It took maybe 30-45 minutes but he came back with our scooter and the outer tire as well as the coat were new. Wow! Getting a tire changed at this time is really great. I was afraid that we would have to push it. We couldn't believe it. The gladness was great and the trust in Thailand was fully developed. We got a receipt, thanked him warmly and entered another world.

Patong

I was feeling a little uncomfortable, but Amanda thought it was great. I've never seen anything like it.

We sat in the Blix and drank a tiger and a ginger ale. There was a lot to see...Gogo dancer, all possible age groups and there actually played which 4 wins with the girls...it was too much for me-for Amanda, yes.

They kept inviting us to the ping-pong show...a little lady always made a suction smell with her mouth when she said that - that was really funny. The ping pong show is the one where women push table tennis balls out of their kittens - And that she had tried to imitate with her mouth.

Everywhere drag queens, ladyboys etc. - but they also looked very good. Nice costumes!

In the side streets you could probably content yourself somewhere...at least that was what my observation showed. The police controlled child labor and you get to see all kinds of things if you walk up and down Thanon Bangla Road a few times. The bars were full of lights, pole dancers and overall there is a real overstimulation that I don't get used to that eveningbut the experience from the whole day was really great!

We drove back full of experience, sunburn and good Thai food. There were a few police checks on the route, but everything went smoothly. The route is not well lit and you have to drive carefully and the scooter should have good brakes, as well as lights. At the end of the day I have to say...

I prefer to go to the jungle!
