Yeah, what a night...
Sometime during the night we checked into El Madina in Tan Tan. It was cheap and had a 24 hour reception. We had a room with 2 beds on the 1st floor that seemed like a basement room. The shower and toilet were outside, along the corridor, for all residents to use. There were big cockroaches running around there and in general it wasn't very pretty but useful.
Hotel Al Madina
We left quite late the Hotel but we didn't have a lot of destinations today. We searched the area around Tan Tan and enjoyed the desert landscape. A dream of stone desert and sandy desert! It was very very hot but much fun!
Scorpion / Crab spider
We spent almost 3 hours in the heat and then continued towards Western Sahara. We stopped at a wadi.
A wadi is a river that is dry at this time of year and fills up with water again in winter.
The largest ticks of all time could be found on the bushes and dry branches. The European ticks are 4-5x as small. I hate ticks and fortunately I noticed this early enough and was able to get some off my pants in time.
There were also a few scorpions here...it was still very hot!
Scorpions
Also here we spent almost 3 hours in the heat, drunk 2 Liter water and drove to Mirleft ca. 3 hours. We stopped at a abandoned house and thought we found scorpions inside. But nothing except a useful pickaxe.
Abandonded House
Today we checked in at Tayafut Apartments Terrace in Mirleft in the evening. A very nice hotel but more on that in the next post.
