Good morning and welcome to the Riad Etoile de Mogador Roomtour...
Our Route today...
Late in the day we continued north to Casablanca and of course we looked for scorpions along the way.
We looked at Hotel Baberrih on the coast, there are also sand dunes.
Scorpion
A few minutes further in Ouled Si Hamou.
Scorpion / Little Owl
We continued via Skhour des Rehamna as the route is shorter.
In Skhour des Rehamna we bought fresh meat from the butcher and had it prepared in the restaurant next door...that's how they should do it, they told us.
Really delicious!
It was on to Casablanca and on the way I booked a room at the Hotel Majestic, I thought.
5 hours later on the road a little Snack...
Tajine
Our arrival time was delayed, I called the hotel and said that we would be later and the receptionist said that this was not a problem.
Casablanca
When we arrived at the hotel we were told that our room had been taken but that we could have a more expensive one. Of course, I was very angry and said it wouldn't work like that. We were out all day, were hungry and didn't have a lot of budget left, and it was also cheeky to let the booked room go without saying anything and then offer a more expensive room. No way! I was very upset about this and was referred to another hotel in Casablanca. It was very busy in the city and you won't find a parking space everywhere. So after 30 minutes we were in the other hotel and there we were told that everything was fully booked. Great! Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything cheap via booking apps quickly and at the time, because it was now 1 a.m.
Cornelius said I was overreacting and calmed down. He suggested that we just drive through to Fez. And we did. So another 3.5 hours drive.
9th Day: Way to Fez
On the way we tried to look for scorpions in a habitat near Rabat and often ended up on the wrong roads because the navigation system didn't navigate the way correctly.
We ended up there somewhere at a barrier to drive through, but unfortunately this didn't work because there was no one there and no machine either.
There was no way back, because there was only one way, so we had to drive back, as wrong-way drivers, about 100m uphill around a curve. That was pure thrill and luckily no car came.
We were now on the right track, we thought... we were standing at a bridge to the Rabat valley, but it broke off in the middle, it wasn't finished...there we were now, laughing.
But the view was great.
Cornelius and I went to pee and suddenly, a small tent on the construction site moved. I said there is no wind at all...it rustled on and on and suddenly an arm came out with a club followed by one of the biggest Moroccans I had ever seen...and then he was standing there. We couldn't believe it, it was dark...we stood there quietly for a moment and started laughing with relief. The man too. He just guarded the site, he said...
Who expects that an almost 2m man comes out of a small construction site tent, in which one actually assumes small equipment.
This is again proof that you are never alone in Morocco. There is always someone somewhere watching.
What a night...we continued to Fez. First get some sleep and then keep looking for scorpions.
Road to Taza
Unfortunately we didn't find much, but the trip was great.
Sundown
Back in Fez for a snack...

A long beautiful way to our riad...
